Learning to 3D Print
We’ve documented the journey of one of our employees Jan, as she learns to 3D print, in order to show you just how straightforward the process is. Jan is a 3D printing beginner but has some experience with technical equipment and 3D modelling.
We asked her about her experience 3D printing for the first time, as well as any issues she encountered and what she’s learnt from the process so far.
If you’ve ever wondered if 3D printing is easy to learn, read on to find out more.
Why did you buy your printer from 123-3D.co.uk?
First of all, she mentioned the price of the printer, “It was a great price, the cheapest I could find.” We offer competitively priced 3D printers and stock many of the most popular printers. Also, we offer many different 3D printers for beginners.
“123-3D.co.uk are based in the UK, so if I have any issues whilst the printer is in warranty, it can be easily sent back.”
Jan also made a point to mention our excellent specialist customer service team and said that “Their customer support is second to none.”
The expert knowledge is amazing. They sorted out my minor user issues in no time and pointed me in the right direction to very helpful videos. They’ve also given us some invaluable tips, tricks and advice.”
Buying from us and using our products is a straightforward and hassle-free process and help and support is never far away.
What type of 3D printer did you buy?
“I bought a filament printer, the Creality Ender-3 S1 Pro.”
Talking about the process of confirming which printer she wanted to buy, “I did lots of research.” It’s important to think about what you want to print and what you will primarily use it for, as well as where it will be located within your home or business.
Jan also said that “I wanted to be able to have the flexibility to print lots of different types of filament, including wood, metal and flexible TPU for jewellery. This make and model was also suggested to me by a 123-3D.co.uk expert as the right one for me. That gave me the confidence to buy and was very reassuring.”
Why a filament printer?
Jan mentioned some factors that led to her buying a filament printer; technological improvements were top of the list: “Filament printers seemed to have advanced massively since we did our research more than 10 years ago.”
Also mentioned was the “Great price filament - some [spools] are only £16. The filament is much cheaper than I thought it would be.” Quality isn’t compromised though, “The quality (although you can see the print lines if you stick your nose right up to the model), is amazing, I’ve posted some of my prints on the 123-3D Facebook Group.”
Speaking about the range of 3D printer filament that’s available from 123-3D.co.uk she said, “I had no idea the selection would be so great, PLA, TPU, TPE, Nylon and more. The variety of filament is fantastic, 80% Metal Bronze and Copper, Matte, Silk and Wood. And for my purposes, the colour range is fantastic including pastels and two-tone Chameleon, my favourite. I think this makes it very useful for creative purposes.”
Have you bought and tried any 123-3D.co.uk Own Brand filament?
“Yes, I’ve purchased the PLA Bronze, PLA Copper Metal, PLA Bronze Metal, PLA Black, PLA Grey and PLA Chameleon. I’ve tried them all now and posted some pictures on the Facebook Group. I was surprised how tough the PLA was and once I got the bed levelled properly and got the nozzle and bed temperature right for the type of filament… it printed like a dream.”
A wide range of 123-3D.co.uk Own Brand filament is available here on our website for an extremely affordable price!
