3D Scanning and Printing Garden Tools and Ornaments
With Spring in the air, it’s a great time to look at some of the wonderful garden tools and ornaments you can scan and print using the Creality CR Scan Lizard and your 3D printer.
Whether it’s a 3D printed plant pot, a garden gnome or even a watering can, using a 3D scanner can be a great way to ensure your print is an exact replica of the original. The Creality CR Scan Lizard scans at fast speeds (10FPS) in real-time without using colours or markers.
3D scanners capture complete and accurate images of objects quickly, which is great if you want to print multiple identical objects like 3D flowers or planters.
The Creality CR Scan Lizard can be used both handheld and with a tripod, (when used with a turntable), to capture different size objects.
If scanning and printing items for a garden, be sure to use a filament that’s suitable for outdoor use (such as PETG).
1. First, take the object you want to scan and ensure it’s clean.
2. Place the model on the turntable and load the scanning software.
3. Then using the tripod to mount the scanner, complete a number of scans.
4. Once you have completed the scans, use the software to process the scan ready to export as an STL file.
5. The scan can then be opened in the slicer software and printed.
