The Duet3D Magnetic Encoder is compatible with the Duet 3 Expansion 1HCL. This allows you to accurately measure the position and rotation of the motor, because it uses a hall effect sensor. This detects the rotation of a magnet attached to the back of the motor. The encoder comes with a 150mm ribbon cable and nylon washers to properly mount it to the back of most NEMA 17 motors.
Please note: You will need replacement (longer) motor screws to attach the Duet 3 magnetic encoder to most NEMA 17 motors. These are not included because the length of the screws depends on the length of your engine.- 14 bit on-axis magnetic rotation sensor
- The sensor supports a maximum of 14500 RPM
- Magnet of 4 mm thick with a diameter of 6 mm
- SPI output so that the Duet 3 magnetic encoder can communicate with a Duet 3 Expansion 1HCL controller
- 3.3 V – compatible with the Duet 3 Expansion 1HCL controller (can be expanded to 5V for other devices)
- Compatible with all NEMA17 motors. Motors with a free shaft that sits no more than 3.5mm below the rear of the motor should also be compatible. If the free shaft extends out the back, you will need a mounting system that holds the sensor approximately 1mm from the magnet on the shaft.
- For use with a NEMA23 and other sizes: Use an adapter plate or mounting system.
